Mohammed Ismail Sharrif (born 9th January 2002), known professionally as Black Sherif, is a Ghanaian singer, rapper and songwriter.
He garnered online prominence in early 2020, after the release of a YouTube performance of his single, “Money”. He again released ‘’Destiny’’ which again became a hit among the Gen Z market; with both singles being successful and going ahead to topping the Boomplay charts that year, Black Sherif became one of the artistes to look out for going into 2021.
After putting out a 2 singles earlier in 2021, Black Sherif’s actual breakthrough was not until “First Sermon Freestyle’’, which gained the attention of Ghana’s biggest artiste/rapper, Sarkodie. Demand for the song went through the roof after the rapper shared a snippet of Black Sherif performing the song on his social media accounts.
Shortly after, he put out a follow-up single, rightfully dubbed, Second Sermon which immediately became a hit in Ghana and shot his fame to superstar level in his home country. Ultimately signing with US-based EMPIRE Distributions and getting the remix treatment for the single featuring none other than Nigeria’s own Burna Boy.
